Volunteer Committee Member Positions Available


Summary

Intertwine Arts seeks Access and Inclusion Committee members to provide insight as to how our organization can better develop its accessibility practices. Intertwine Arts created the committee to seek out and learn from the diverse identities, lived experiences, and interests of our community and audiences. The committee will focus on issues of disability, inclusion, and accessibility, and apply insights to improve programs and operations. Access and Inclusion Committee members review Intertwine’s practices as a non-profit, give avenues for growth, and work to make those changes a reality.

Meetings occur once every two months over zoom for an hour. Access and Inclusion work is intended to be completed during meetings. Working outside of meeting hours may occur, but is never required. 

Intertwine Arts strongly encourages participants of our workshops as well as staff from Intertwine partnerships to apply. Responsibilities: 

  1. Attend hour-long committee meetings over zoom every other month

  2. Provide expertise on issues of accessibility that pertain to Intertwine Arts

  3. Bolster the work of Intertwine Arts by analyzing Intertwine’s teaching methods, expanding partnerships, growing accessible services, best communications practices and more

  4. Stay up-to-date on issues faced within the disabled and chronic illness communities

Skills and Qualities that are a “plus”:

  • Experience within the world of accessibility, either through one’s own experiences of chronic conditions or by working with disabled and chronically ill people

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact authentically

  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently

  • Knowledge of weaving and process-based artmaking

  • Strong sense of initiative and a creative approach to problem-solving

  • Displays a high level of support for colleagues, and builds professional and respectful relationships with others 

  • Bilingual, particularly in any of the following languages: ASL, Spanish

Pay:  Being a committee member is a volunteer position. For each meeting attended, there is a $50 honorarium given.
