Our Mission, Vision, and Values

The mission of Intertwine Arts is to inspire creativity, joy, and self-confidence through free-form weaving for people of all ages with disabilities or chronic illness.

Our Vision

Intertwine Arts envisions creating and promoting inclusive communities of weavers by partnering with organizations that provide programs and services to people with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities or chronic illness together with their families and caregivers. We aim to promote accessibility in the arts, as well as champion the legitimacy of disabled weavers in the art world.

A teaching artist and a newfound weaver create a tapestry together on a floor loom.

We also believe everyone should be able to experience the therapeutic benefits of weaving, a creative process wherein individuals discover their own unique creative sensibilities, connect with their peers on a deeper level, and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.

Our Values

Intertwine Arts believes that:

  • The arts must be inclusive, equitable, and accessible to people of every background and ability

  • Everyone has an inherent sense of beauty, unique sensibilities, and the intrinsic ability to create

  • Everyone has the right to experience the joy and emotional well-being of making art

  • Building community among weavers, their families, and caregivers provides vital support, inspiration, and friendship

  • We all have the potential to learn from each other and open our minds to a multitude perspectives
