Mantel Piece weaving by Ikesha
Mantel Piece weaving by Ikesha
Made by Ikesha at our Heartshare Program. Ikesha from Brooklyn has been weaving for almost 3 years now, and has made a large portfolio of projects including circle weavings, bags, blankets, and most recently a skirt. She is a very popular person in the weaving classroom and has made friends with all her fellow artists. Ikesha loves to make pieces for her daughter, and also enjoyed selling her artwork to make money. When asked about her process she says ‘It takes me time to make the pieces, more than 2 weeks, I like to work carefully and slowly.’ When she’s not weaving she likes to spend time at home cooking and watching tv, shopping and playing games.
